iPhone 5: Power button ending calls

Category: Cell Phone Talk

I've heard rumors that, using the iPhone 5, if you're in a call and hit the power/lock button, it should end the call. Has anyone gotten that to work with any consistency? Out of all the calls I've made or received, using the power button to end them has only worked twice. Other times, it seems to lock the phone or put the call on speaker. The two-finger double-tap does seem to work, but I've just been curious about the power/lock button and what it's supposed to do.

The two times I've gotten this to work, have been when I was just simpley trying to lock the screen rather than end the call. Both times, I had a headset plugged in.
This however, works nearly every time on my wife's phone without voice over on.

For me, the lock button only mutes the call, doesn't end it entirely. What's the double tap thing?
I'm new to the IPhone and I always have trouble finding the end button to end a call. Nothing else gives me trouble but that. Can someone please enlighten me how to efficiently and quickly end a call on the IPhone? I get that the end button is near the bottom left corner of the screen, but most of the time voiceover doesn't even announce it, and I keep tapping it and searching for it and it isn't there.
It's not just my phone, I've had trouble with this on other people's IPhones too. so in this case, it's opperator error. lol Any suggestions, please? Thanks lol

Instead of searching for the end button, lower the phone from your ear, spread two fingers and double tap the phone to end a call. The two-finger, double-tap will also answer a call.

Am I the only one who can consistently use the lock/sleep button to end a call? It has failed me a few times, but a clear majority of the time it works like a charm.

Lol Synthesizer101, it looks that way. I've tried and tried, and usually what it does is throw me to speakerphone when I press the power/lock button. I've been told it may be something that works for people who jailbreak their devices, but I have no idea. I just know it isn't working for me.

It took me a few days to get good at using the end button. The first few days I could not answer or hang up the phone lol. Now though have no problem with it.

Lisa's girl is correct, double tap the lock button to end a call.

When I double tap the end button to end a call, I get flung to speakerphone. I've tried double tapping quickly, slowly... every possible kind of double tap that could exist.

double tapping the end button usually works for me also.

A 2 finger double tap anywhere on the screen will answer and end calls. It works better if you slightly spread your fingers and don't do it too fast. I find that if I rush that second tap, it won't work. I've never tried the lock button to end calls so can't speak to that. If you want to do the 1 finger double tap on the end button, lay the phone flat to make it go into speaker phone. To find the end button easily, start at the home button. move your finger straight up about a quarter inch then straight left about a quarter inch and you'll be right on it.

I have got it to work but it's not consistent.
